Help, I'm Lost!

Stay calm, you're in the right place. In just a few minutes you'll understand the whole login thing. It's pretty simple, really.

For many websites you must have what is called a User ID and a Password. The User ID is a way for the website to know who you are and what things you should have access to. The Password is used to make sure that no one else can come to the website and pretend to be you by typing in your User ID. You should always keep these two things secret.

If you do not have a User ID and Password for ellenclairwood.com, you can create one by clicking the link at the bottom of the login page. You will have to give us some information about yourself when you create a User ID and Password for the website. Once you click on the link, simply fill out the form with the correct information. The last two fields ask you for a User ID and Password. You make these up on your own. For example, if your name is John Doe, you might want your User ID to be "JDoe" or "JohnD" or even "JohnDoe". Your password should be something very difficult to guess and it must be at least 6 characters long. It's a bad idea to use things like your social security number, phone number, date of birth, family member's name, pet's name or the like - because these are things that might be easy to guess if someone was trying to get access to your account. Once you have filled out the form, click the "Submit" button at the bottom and the website will create your account for you. If there are any problems with the information that you have supplied, the website will tell you what the problem is. Use your browser's back button, fix the problem and then click the "Submit" button again. If you get an error saying that the User ID that you have selected is already in use by another member, you have to select a different User ID. A simple way to do this is by adding a number onto the end of the User ID that you have already selected.

So, why do we require a User ID and Password now? It's actually for your convenience. Once you give us the information about yourself and create your account, the website remembers who you are. All you have to do when you return is type in your User ID and Password. The website will tell you your current account balance and will remember your address so that you don't have to type it in every time that you order. It also remembers your email address and will notify you when your orders have shipped.

Just make sure that you don't forget your User ID and Password once you've created your account. You'll need to know what they are to be able to access the site in the future. If you happen to forget your User ID or your Password, click the link on the Login page to have it emailed to you immediately.

Always remember, keep your User ID and Password a secret. If you give it to anyone, they might access the website and place orders that will be deducted from your account.
